Abstract: This article has been organizad in two parts. Firstly, the external outreach of the Basque economy is anawed in comparison with that of other territorial levels, together with factors which condition the conduct of Basque products abroad and the recent evolution thereof. The second part analyzes export activity from an entrepreneurial point of view: characteristics of exporting firms, competitivity factors in the foreign markets and corporate strengths, together with the existing obstacles for the expansion of the export activity of Basque enterprises.
