Abstract: The article starts by discussing the formation and subsequent development of the Mondragón Corporación Cooperativa (MCC) group, particularly from an organisational point of view. It goes on to deal with the role of internationalisation in the group's strategy, the methodology used to establish the internationalisation plan, and the level to which the targets set in this area have been met. Finally, after examining on the effect which the group's internationalisation process may have had on employment in cooperatives, it draws a number of conclusions and lessons from this internationalisation experience.
