Abstract:
The objective of this article is to value the importance of the Centre for Industrial and Technological Development (CDTI) as a public organisation, in the whole of the Basque and Navarran economy by means of an assessment of the CDTI companies within the set of innovative companies in these autonomous communities as a whole. The empirical part is included in the analysis of the rate of coverage, within the productive system of the Basque Country and Navarre, of low-interest credits for R+D projects transacted by CDTI. The empirical evidence shows that, over a 10 year period, 28% of innovative Basque and Navarran companies have benefited from such credits. Clear differences have been detected according to size, direction and innovative effort, and the complexity of the projects. The results of this study have been compared with experiences in Spain and in Germany.
