Abstract:
The objective of this work is to contribute to characterise Biskaian oligarchy by means of a study of the various periods it went thorough from its origins up to the Civil War. Each one of the three stages that are proposed, formation (1872-1900), consolidation (1900-1921) and purification (1921-1936), has something of the other two. This is because in all of them new names emerge and are consolidated and others disappear, but the established division can well suit the purpose of interpreting the fate of Biskaian oligarchy. This is studied by means of a follow up of its most representative families.
