Abstract:
In this article we analyze the job-brokerage activity of the Public Employment Service (PES) in the countries of the European Union, considering the process of rupture of the monopoly and liberalization of the placement services. The results show a little public presence in the scope of the labor intermediation, with a reduction of the confidence of the unemployed ones in the PES like an effective job search method. The beginning of different factors of modernization of the PES defined in the European Employment Strategy is key to try to improve its effectiveness like intermediary in the labor market.
