Abstract: An overview of the institutions working in the fields of cultural innovation and creation in the Basque Country is presented. The main drivers in the sector are discussed, such as Tabakalera and Arteleku in Donostia, BilbaoArte in Bilbao and Montehermoso and Krea in Gasteiz. The public-sector education on offer in the field is also covered, i.e. Musikene, Eszenika and the soon-to-open Leioa Science & Technology Park, along with public and private universities and professional training schools. The various associations in the sector are then examined, such as the Eiken audio-visual cluster and the Sarea theatre network. The article describes with opinions and analysis by the persons in charge of Tabakalera, Musikene, Creativity Zentrum, DigiPen, Eiken and the bid 2016 Donostia-San Sebastian european capital of culture.
