Abstract: This study develops a new synthetic indicator from diverse researches by the Spanish Sustainable Development Network. The objective is to analyse the progress of the different Spanish regions towards Sustainable Development and to identify the territories that have shown a positive dynamic in the application of the 2030 Agenda. To this end, from a set of indicators that collect information on the progress of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals, a synthetic situation index has been generated for each of the municipalities in the sample (100 Spanish cities) following a method of distance from the ideal solution. Our results show how the situation in sustainable development of the Spanish regions differ from each other depending on their location and their own characteristics.
