Chapter 4 in Teaching Environmental Impact Assessment, 2021, pp 39-51 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Ten content related principles applicable to any form of EIA teaching are identified and discussed based on literature review. The principles pertain to teaching theory and practice of EIA, incorporating research, addressing EIA best practice, addressing EIA procedures, professional ethics, interdisciplinary, pluralism, socio-political and technical dimensions of EIA, fostering sustainability and providing practical methods and tools. The relative importance of the content principles for university teaching and professional training derived from a survey of EIA teachers is presented.
