EIA teaching principles: pedagogy
.
Chapter 5 in Teaching Environmental Impact Assessment, 2021, pp 52-64 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Ten pedagogy principles relating to how EIA is taught are defined and presented. They strongly align with adult learning principles more generally. The principles pertain to addressing learner needs, exhibiting flexibility, facilitating co-learning, simulating actual practice, provoking discussion, utilising case studies, imparting practical experience, facilitating self-learning, and ensuring enjoyable experiences. The relative importance of the pedagogy principles for university teaching and professional training derived from a survey of EIA teachers is presented.
