This chapter provides an introduction to the handbook. It provides a brief overview of some of the key themes relating to the research area of risk and inequality. The chapter also provides a brief rationale for the handbook and its potential to further develop the emerging field of risk and inequality studies. It then proceeds to provide a brief introduction to the key themes of the papers in the handbook.
