Evolving thinking on community partnerships

.

Chapter 2 in Strategic Community Partnerships, Philanthropy, and Nongovernmental Organization, 2021, pp 8-19 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: With the growth of nonprofit organizations, some institutions have become significant employers and economic actors in local communities and communities are increasingly relying on nonprofit organizations for vital services. Alongside the expansion of the nonprofit/nongovernmental sector is the growth of private philanthropy, which has enabled nonprofits to grow and develop. In community partnerships, resources from private philanthropy can be crucial, but there is no single model for financing these collaborative initiatives. All of the partnerships featured in this book involve philanthropy in some way.
