The part and the whole
.
Chapter 4 in Plato's Economics, 2021, pp 57-66 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Plato situated isolated actions and discrete individuals as parts of a living organism, each with a unique role to play. Like Burke, he extended the pattern into the past and into the future. Collective responsibility limits the freedom of the citizen, who in exchange is not required to be self-sufficient.
