Global supply chain management for sustainability

.

Chapter 7 in Concise Introduction to Global Supply Chain Management, 2024, pp 133-144 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter raises awareness of the degradation of the environment on a global scale through increased marine pollution from discarded plastics and climate change as a result of the increased use of fossil fuels, among other things. The global supply chain as we know it has been based on a linear economy paradigm (i.e., make, buy, and dispose); a shift to a circular economy paradigm (i.e., make, reuse, remake, and recycle) is needed in order to ensure the sustainability of resources.
