Studying precarious lives: feminist research and the politics of location, solidarity and vulnerability
Devi Vijay
Chapter 9 in Handbook of Feminist Research Methodologies in Management and Organization Studies, 2023, pp 140-156 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter focuses on how feminist epistemic practices can inform and transform organizational studies of precarious lives. The Global North-centric field of organization studies naturalizes capitalist markets, reproduces Eurocentric knowledge, and silences feminist voices. These hegemonic tendencies distort our understanding of precarious lives. I suggest how radical feminist epistemic practices that are attentive to politics of location, solidarity, and vulnerability can interrupt extractive, colonial, androcentric knowledge projects.
