Abstract: This chapter examines exploration-driven M&A as a means to acquire new knowledge, technologies and markets. It highlights the challenges posed by uncertain outcomes, complex target evaluations and integration of unfamiliar assets. Exploration strategies require fostering absorptive capacity, innovation-oriented leadership and granting target autonomy to balance experimentation with integration. The chapter emphasises the importance of tailoring post-acquisition strategies tomanage risks and realise long-term strategic objectives.
