Chapter 4 in Investigation Reports, 2021, pp 49-71 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This case study is concerned with the foundation Born Free, which received funding from the Norwegian government to work against social control among members of minority groups. Whistleblowers claimed that the foundation was spending government funds in other areas than intended by the government and the foundation statutes. Convenience themes included individual and corporate possibilities, status and access to commit wrongdoing, decay to conceal wrongdoing, and innocence based on justification and neutralization. Audit firm Ernst & Young examined the matter at the lowest maturity level of activity-oriented investigation. Examiners suffered from both tunnel vision and confirmation bias.
