Abstract: This chapter explores the dynamics of urban poverty in Dublin's inner city, focusing on the social housing estate Oliver Bond House. Drawing from participatory ethnographic research conducted under the European Union-funded CITY-OF-CARE project, the chapter examines how residents, particularly women, mobilize to confront poverty, resist displacement, and advocate for better living conditions. By framing the analysis within the concepts of “togetherness” and a “City of Care,” the chapter calls for more inclusive urban policies that invest in social infrastructure and prioritize the well-being of disadvantaged communities over market-driven redevelopment. It also highlights how urban poverty in Dublin is exacerbated by neoliberal housing policies, which deepen spatial segregation and marginalization.
