Chapter 9 in Handbook of Research on Cooperatives and Mutuals, 2023, pp 166-171 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Our objective is to describe producers' historical and current roles and the use of marketing cooperatives to govern supply chains in different regions. In Latin America, we focus on small farmers producing cocoa and coffee for export. For Ireland, we examine dairy cooperatives. In the U.S. we focus on producers who use the cooperative for vertical integration.
