Chapter 8 in Handbook on Energy and Economic Growth, 2024, pp 173-198 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter provides a general review of the studies that analyze the energy-environment Kuznets curve. Such investigation is not only interesting for environmental reasons, but also for purely energy-related reasons. Energy being a scarce resource, its efficient use is of paramount importance and knowing to what extent economic growth can progress with limited energy use is highly relevant. This chapter also lays out a series of questions that would need to be addressed by the scientific community.
