Conclusions: integrating infrastructure in Asia
Colin Turner
Chapter 7 in The Asian Infrastructure System, 2026, pp 141-149 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter reflects upon the analysis offered within the previous chapters as a means of fully understanding the form and nature of infrastructural integration across the region. As a rule, the pattern of infrastructural integration reflects the pattern of formal integration across Asia as a whole, namely that the process is very uneven. In East and West Asia, the process is more developed than in other parts of the region. China, through the BRI, has been an active player within the process, though its longer-term impact is uncertain.
