Abstract:
This chapter raises the issue of what kind of uncertainties are involved when operating in complex bio-physical systems. It discusses how to establish knowledge when confronted with such systems. It clarifies the kind of uncertainties faced and discusses adequate responses to them, including appropriate rules for acting when facing different types of uncertainty.
