Abstract:
Legal animal protection in Peru is founded in its constitutional jurisprudence, the Animal Protection and Welfare Law enacted in 2016, and case law related to animal protection. The Law governs the treatment of animals in entertainment and cultural practices, companion animals, farmed animals, laboratory animals, and wildlife protection and conservation.
