Abstract: In this chapter, Stern draws on her own feminist research, as well as that of others, to explore poststructuralist feminist approaches to the study of world politics. She begins with the assertion that poststructural feminism (PF) should not be seen as a separate field from poststructuralism, or vice versa. The chapter then provides a brief overview of poststructuralism as a broad perspective. Next it explores how PF research has challenged dominant discourses by exposing and destabilizing their gendered foundations, questioning their inevitability, and thereby creating space for alternative ways of thinking and acting. Finally, it turns to questions of knowledge and power, showing how PF research critically queries how we understand world politics and its subjects. Taken as a whole, the chapter highlights how PF research projects engage in critically analyzing world politics as a field of academic study and as an imagined sphere of ethics, politics, and economy that is deeply gendered.
