Abstract: This chapter explores the scholarly and policy developments on extractive industries and their transnational economic, environmental, and social impacts. The category ‘woman’ is now frequently found in some transnational policy developments on resource extraction, while a body of scholarship is emerging which traces some of the gendered dimensions of mining and natural resource extraction. Drawing from feminist political economy and feminist political ecology theories, the chapter seeks to outline a gendered approach to examining transnational policy developments on natural resources and extractive activities.
