Chapter 1 in A Research Agenda for International Entrepreneurship, 2023, pp 1-14 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
International entrepreneurship is a multi-dimensional phenomenon with activities occurring at different inter-related levels. These levels are concerned with the individual entrepreneur or the founding team, the new venture, the country markets with their particular cultural and institutional contexts, and the macroeconomic environment. This multi-dimensional character of the field has led to a fragmentation of studies that is also plagued by definitional debates. Despite these challenges, different streams of research have emerged that seem to provide a consensus and basis for future research. Hence, our chapter tries to contribute to the definition of a research agenda for international entrepreneurship. Therefore, we draw on different literature reviews of international entrepreneurship and combine these with the chapters of this book.
