Reforming capitalism: economics at the crossroads of institutionalism and post-Keynesianism
.
Chapter 1 in Reforming Capitalism for the Common Good, 2022, pp 2-15 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter provides an introduction to Reforming Capitalism for the Common Good, a collection of essays on institutional and post-Keynesian economics composed by Charles J. Whalen during a career of more than three decades. It highlights the book's focus on economic reform that advances workers' interests through measures that promote the common good. It also highlights Whalen's career-long pursuit of a reconstruction of economics, which is inspired by the work of John R. Commons and motivated by Hyman Minsky's assertion that any enduring constructive change in economic policy requires a major change in the discipline.
