Abstract: This chapter examines feminist perspectives on sovereignty, arguing that sovereignty is an inherently masculine and patriarchal concept. The chapter explores how the sovereign subject has historically and empirically been male, from kings to emperors, and how feminist theories offer a reconceptualisation of sovereign subjectivity as plural, relational, and “permeable”, contrasting with the traditional image of an autonomous and singular subject.
