Chapter 2 in Taking the Fear Out of Data Analysis, 2023, pp 11-21 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter looks at the reasons for sampling and explores the link between a sample and a population. The concept of sampling error and the distinction between probability and non-probability sampling methods is discussed next. Finally, the chapter considers the influences bearing upon the sample size, the stages of the sampling process, and possible problems during sampling.
