Abstract:
Pedigree Matrix in life cycle assessment was first proposed by Weidema and Wesnæs in 1996 as a semi-quantitative approach to data quality assessment, indicating the reliability of the data, completeness of the data, and temporal, geographic, and further technological correlations as Data Quality Indicators (DQI) that can be used to revise the data collection procedures and combined with uncertainty analysis to improve the data quality and provide a better understanding of the results. The suggested five DQIs that are introduced as necessary and sufficient to describe data quality aspects are (1) reliability, (2) completeness, (3) temporal correlation, (4) geographical correlation, and (5) further technological correlation. Together, the five indicators provide a tool for assessing data quality.
