Employment relationship subcategory

Chapter 56 in Elgar Encyclopedia of Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment, 2026, pp 197-199 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
The employment relationship is defined by the International Labour Organization (ILO) as the legal connection between an employer and its employees. Through it, various rights and obligations between the employer and employee are defined. In the context of S-LCA, the employment relationship has been added as a subcategory for the stakeholder category workers. The assessment of this subcategory aims at verifying if a formal contract between employers and employees is in place, if the relationship between employer and employee is legally defined in the contract, as well as determining the level of protection afforded to workers.
