Chapter 1 in Human Rights and Investment Law for Climate Change, 2025, pp 1-9 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This chapter introduces the book and its chapters. It presents the main a im of the book, which is exploring the opportunities and challenges arising at the intersection of climate change, human rights, and investment law. It examines how climate change has been integrated into these legal domains through the evolution of normative standards, litigation, and law-making. The focus on these three phases provides a comprehensive understanding of the interaction between legal regimes. Divided into three parts – Evolving Norms, Litigation, and Law-Making – the book investigates how international human rights and investment law can evolve to better address climate change. By engaging with these themes, the book encourages critical and innovative reflections on how legal frameworks can be adapted to meet climate challenges. It seeks to contribute to identifying new solutions that advance international legal action on climate change.
