Precious Jackson
Chapter 21 in Reimagining the Gendering of Sport, 2025, pp 249-252 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
In this creative nonfiction narrative, I delve into my dynamic journey as a Black female athlete navigating the predominantly white sport of figure skating. Through deep reflection and vivid storytelling, I explore the challenges, triumphs, and cultural nuances that shaped my experiences on the ice. From moments of isolation to breaking down stereotypes, I share the resilience and perseverance necessary in a sport where diversity remains scarce, but where my passion and determination shine brightly.
