Abstract: The prevailing institutions entrusted with public resources need to rethink their governance outlook to achieve sustainable energy outcomes. It has been opined that the socio-contractual foundations of Nigeria's energy industry are typified by corporate abuse and systemic negligence. In this light, the considered dimensions of energy governance (representation–recognition–reconciliation–results) resonate with the well-established perspective on achieving effective governance in various contexts. Importantly, this governance model gives stakeholders the necessary latitude to readjust for elevated contributions. However, because of the volatilities attributable to global energy markets and Nigeria's lack of sustainable institutional reforms, the governance perspective constitutes an applied and constructive depiction. In essence, there is an overarching imperative for an alternative and disruptive culture to restore the fundamentals of Nigeria's energy industry. In conclusion, the author reiterates the premium of focal representation as the fulcrum of enduring governance to reposition Nigeria's fragile energy industry.
