Chapter 5.3 in Elgar Encyclopedia of Strategy as Practice, 2025, pp 614-618 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Behavioral strategy is a thriving interdisciplinary subfield at the intersections of strategic management and the behavioral sciences, which seeks to advance understanding of the fundamental mechanisms that variously enable and inhibit the ability of individuals, organizations, and interorganizational collectives to adapt to shifting contingencies, with a view to enriching theory, empirical research, and practice. In this entry we provide a brief overview of several of the core themes of behavioral strategy and outline how it relates to research in strategy-as-practice.
