Chapter 6.7 in Elgar Encyclopedia of Strategy as Practice, 2025, pp 692-694 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Strategy practices in China are shaped by unique and complex contexts, including distinctive political and economic institutions, market and societal transformations, and cultural traditions. Given these significant differences between China and Western countries, studying the underexplored strategy practices in China can potentially contribute to new insights into existing SAP research and management research in general. In the last 15 years, there has been a surge of interest among Chinese scholars in examining the emergence and development of Chinese management practices, not only to gain a better understanding of the indigenous practices but also to contribute to management theories in general. Against this background, we discuss the current development of SAP in China and the great opportunity to promote its expansion.
