Abstract:
Boundary Games Analysis (BGA) is a novel method for analysing communicative interactions (language games) by creating network visualizations of how ideas flow over time. It specifically traces the effects of earlier instances of communication on later ones. Traditional methods isolate themes across different instances of communication. In contrast, BGA maps how communicative interactions unfold by connecting sequences of communication in terms of their effects on different boundaries (themes or topics). BGA resonates with SAP scholars exploring how strategy is done in and through communication. BGA is especially useful for analyzing the praxis of strategy and the role of socio-materiality since it considers the multimodality of language. This method is especially suited for examining communicative interactions such as strategy and ideation workshops, team interactions, meetings, interviews and informal chatting.
