Purpose-led companies in financial services – A case study

Fliss Berridge

Chapter 8 in Corporate Governance and Culture in Financial Institutions, 2025, pp 226-261 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: This is a case study of the fintech company Ordo. It draws on the author's personal experience of delivering financial services in a way that puts People and Purpose first, rather than supranormal profits. It provides a description of how Ordo came about and the author's view of what has been significant. It demonstrates the importance of Purpose in Ordo's past, present and future. It shows how Purpose has influenced how the team at Ordo behaves in a sector that unfortunately finds it hard to hit the headlines for anything to be proud of.
