Abstract: The aim of this chapter is to support readers to think about the value of intersectional perspectives for understanding care experience and how this might help them to be better allies, advocates, and supports to care experienced people. The chapter will give a short overview of the language of care experience before going on to explore the range of care pathways and what we know about children and young people who end up in the care system in the UK. In the second part of the chapter, we will look at the limited research around Black care experience. We will then briefly discuss issues of gender, sexuality, disability, religion, and class. By the end of the chapter, we hope the reader will feel more informed about the range of intersectional issues impacting care experienced people and feel more supported in their journey to understand and engage with these issues.
