Abstract: The transition to sustainable socialist societies will take place in a similar way to the change in social formation that led from feudalism to capitalism. There is no single revolutionary event that brings about the change. The sustainability revolution begins right now at different levels of society, it takes place globally and locally. It takes place in the struggle for social majorities. It utilises every possible form of action, from parliamentary elections to civil disobedience, but is strictly non-violent. Its political model is intersectional. Sustainable socialism can serve as a compass for feminist, anti-racist and indigenous movements. It is a model for renewed labour and trade union movements. The utopia of socialism contains a viable answer to the politics of the negative. No more, but also no less. Those who want to preserve capitalism must prove that more convincing alternatives are possible within the boundaries of the system.
