Workplace parking levy

Abstract: A workplace parking levy (WPL) is a form of transport demand intervention which imposes a charge on specific categories of non-residential off-street car parking spaces at a workplace. This entry describes what WPL schemes consist of and why they may be introduced. The case of the pioneering scheme in the city of Nottingham, England, is detailed in terms of its aim, scheme design and use of the revenue raised. Other schemes exist in Australia with similar aims to the Nottingham scheme, namely the Perth parking levy, the Sydney parking space levy and the Melbourne congestion levy.
