Community Transport

Tara Russell, Victoria Armstrong and Scott Bogren

A chapter in Elgar Encyclopedia of Transport and Society, 2025, pp 94-95 from Edward Elgar Publishing

Abstract: Community Transport (CT) is a mode of transport recognised in various forms across the world. Usually associated with a supported and person-centred approach to passenger transport, it is heavily subsidised to meet the transport need where public passenger transport markets are not accessible or viable. CT exists within the community and for community, taking on many variations and forms reflective of that community need.
