Abstract: The study of space in anthropology and education illuminates structures of oppression at work in society and the ways actors assert agency to remake and redefine space in the pursuit of “spatial justice” Acknowledging that humans act upon, and are being acted upon by, space in systems or structures of power, this chapter explores the construct of space in education research with empirical examples from the authors’ work and the ways humans in academic spaces employ agentic tactics to act upon space or are acted upon by constraining spaces.
