Abstract: The Elgar Encyclopedia of Historical Organisation Studies marks a milestone in the consolidation of a vibrant field bridging history and organisation theory. Tracing its evolution from an emergent movement to an established community of practice, the editors position the Encyclopedia as both a reflection of the field's maturity and an invitation to future dialogue. The impetus of this project, being the development of a commonly shared lexicon, is discussed. The editors conclude by highlighting the collaborative ethos that went into compiling this volume and discuss how they see the Encyclopedia offering value to a wide audience, including organisation scholars, practitioners and students alike.
