Abstract: The New Deal has become a valuable yet underexamined context in historical organisation studies. While traditionally overlooked due to its association with state intervention and progressive politics, recent scholarship uses the New Deal to challenge dominant, pro-business narratives in the field. A growing remit of research foregrounds overlooked New Deal figures such as Frances Perkins, Henry Wallace and Harry Hopkins, whose contributions to labor relations, crisis management and institutional change remain largely absent in management and organisation theory. The New Deal invites a rethink of our discipline's intellectual history and opens space for more inclusive, critical and pluralistic perspectives.
