Non-corporeal actant theory

Abstract: Non-corporeal actant theory (NCAT) combines concepts from actor-network theory (ANT) and critical sensemaking theory (CS) to open the black boxes of decision and action. From the macro perspective, non-corporeal actants (NCAs) are shared values, ideas, beliefs and concepts which are accepted by members of a network. From the micro view, the individual makes sense of each NCA relationally among all other NCAs they enroll. Hartt (2013a, 2019) offers a method to surface NCAs and their role in decision-making, which serves as a starting point for the researcher.
