Abstract: Critical discourse analysis (CDA) is a methodology. Norman Fairclough (2023: 15) defines CDA as “a form of critical social science geared to the better understanding of the nature and sources of social wrongs, the obstacles to addressing them, and the possible ways of overcoming those obstacles”. This entry provides a conceptual overview and a practical way to engage with CDA. The entry gives three empirical examples of studies where CDA is featured. In the critical summary, final thoughts and consideration for the continued use of CDA are emphasised.
