Abstract: The turn to historical research in organizational studies (Clark and Rowlinson 2004) encourages the possibility of increased, intentional exploration of the past. Whether researchers elect to complete the exploration using oral history, secondary source documentary, archival research or another available method, exploiting the use of junctures is strategic for examining temporality. Implementing the insight of junctures in historical research offers a useful way for creating context, understanding discontinuity (and continuity) or accentuating connection across historical periods. This entry highlights the use of junctures in crafting historical research.
