Abstract: Labour history in its modern form emerged in the 1960s in the United Kingdom and it expanded in methodological influence into the 1990s. It is a sub-field of social history and emphasises the lived experience of working people. Labour history, which is also often called labour and working-class history, incorporates gender, race, ethnicity and class. It is also linked to other disciplines, including industrial relations, economics, geography and anthropology.
