Global implementation and pioneering global initiatives
Daniel Vaughan-Whitehead ()
Chapter 2 in The Fair Wage Solution, 2025, pp 58-110 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
This chapter describes how the Fair Wage approach has been implemented by a number of brands around the world, notably by a number of manufacturing giants. The number of Fair Wage assessments completed is impressive, reaching almost 4,000 by the end of 2024, followed by nearly 1,000 Fair Wage remediation exercises. As many as four million workers may now be covered by such exercises and have benefitted from wage improvements. This chapter presents concrete examples of strategies put in place by brands such as Unilever, Puma, Ikea, and many others. A series of assessments conducted in the luxury sector in Italy also present some improvements observed in wages and human resources.
