Chapter 29 in Cases in Organization Development and Change, 2026, pp 283-293 from Edward Elgar Publishing
Abstract:
Major Focus of the Case: This case describes a significant organization development (OD) transformation effort that has taken place with several of our clients. Many of the components of this case occurred during a three-year period at a major national zoo in which we aimed to create a higher performing organization that fosters inclusion, leverages differences and unleashes greater agency. These transformations are critical to each organization's larger vision of becoming one of the best organizations in their field. Critical to the change efforts was creating new mindsets and behaviors that fostered interaction safety and enabled each person to feel heard, valued, included, and able to exercise agency to do the best work and fully do their job.
